Adrian Rogers, who is now with the LORD, was known for his wit and his wisdom. We served together, years ago, on the board of directors for the National Coalition Against Pornography.

He was an exceptional pastor and Bible teacher. It was such a privilege to get to know him. I thought it might be a blessing to you to share some of his “Adrianisms.”

“What Our Country Needs”

I think any sensible person would say that America needs many things, but most of all we need the blessings of God. How important is it that we have His favor? I think we find the answers we need in 2 Chronicles 7:12-16
1. We need God’s blessings in order to survive.

13a, “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain.”
2. We need God’s blessings in order to prosper.

13b, “On command locusts to devour the land.”
3. We need God’s favor to survive morally and physically.

My Heart Cries Out for The Baptist Church in Texas.

Once again, a community has been racked by the senseless killing of many innocent people. Please remember the families of those who have been killed in this atrocity.

Our hearts cry out for understanding. I suppose only God knows for sure what was in the shooter’s mind.

The prophet Jeremiah wrote, “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?” 17:9

Early in human history, we had our very first murder. Cain, angry with God, killed his brother Abel. Genesis 4:8

Confidence in our Lord

Psalm 16

Do you really trust the LORD?

Do you believe He has your best interest on His heart?

Psalm 16 is a meditation on the blessings of God on us who love Him. I love the last verse because it is a kind of summation of the entire Psalm – Verse 11,
“You, God, will show me the path of life;

In your presence is fullness of joy;

At your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

“For His Glory”

I love the book of Ephesians. I believe the primary theme of the book is, “The Walk of the Believer.” The word “walk” has to do with the way we live. The way we live is determined by our relationship with God.

We see that relationships established in Ephesians 1:6 –
“God chose us to do the praises of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in His beloved Son.”

What did Paul just declare in that verse? “We were created to glorify God.” In the New King James translation, that verse reads like this – “to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.”

Dear friend – let that sink in. God has accepted us because we have received and trusted in His Son, Jesus Christ, and it is all because of His grace…the undeserved, unearned favor of God.

A Word to our Jubilee Family – October 17, 2017

When many of you decided, months ago, to leave our former church and you asked that I do everything possible to keep us together, I said at that time I felt we needed to affiliate with a denomination so that we would have that kind of a protective covering.

Independent churches are many times very vulnerable and subject to power struggles. When a church is part of a denomination, there are consulting resources available to help them work through their issues and avoid splits.

For as long as I am pastor of Ventura Jubilee Fellowship, I am going to do everything I can to protect our fellowship from ever going through what happened months ago.

For that reason, I have been exploring the possibility of affiliating with the Missionary Church, that is headquartered in Fort Wayne, Indiana. You can go on the internet and learn all about them. I really encourage you to do that.

We are still Ventura Jubilee Fellowship. That will not change. We will soon be a part of the Western Region of the Missionary Church that includes some 60 different churches. There are conferences and seminars available to us that will help us sharpen our focus and vision for the future.

We will be a part of an incredible world-wide missions’ program known as World Partners. We will partner with others in the denomination in starting new churches all across the nation. The denomination offers a health program for her pastors and missionaries.

The Western Region and denomination both have Investment Foundations where you can safely invest your resources, earn a reasonable rate of interest and see those same funds loaned to churches for building programs.

We have a packet of information available on the Missionary Church that will be on the Information Table … help yourself Sunday morning.

One immediate benefit for us is the help we will receive in obtaining our 501(c)(3) status with the State. Another benefit is that we will be able to establish our official membership. Then, we will have a congregational meeting where we will elect the leaders of our church and establish our budget.

I hope this information will help you see why we have felt affiliation with the Missionary Church is in our best interests.

“Jubilee’s Calling”

God’s work done in God’s way will never lack God’s blessing.  This is a Biblical principle that we see running all the way through the Scriptures.  The mandate for our “individual and corporate calling is found in Matthew 28: 18-20, where our Lord said –

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

“Relational Faith”

When Jesus began what we refer to as “the Lord’s prayer” He used these words – “Our Father in heaven.” What does the word “Father” suggest to you? To me it says that our God is a relational being. He wants far more than us being religious. He wants a relationship with us.

We were created in the likeness and the image of God. That being the case, we are called to a right relationship with Him and then with each other.

1 John 4: 21, “And this commandment we have from Him: “that he who loves God must love his brother also.” Our God is infinite, personal and triune. The Father, son and Holy spirit live together in perfect union and communion.

“Are You Interested?”

Did that question catch your attention? I’m sure you are interested in many things, but my real question is “Are you really interested in God’s ultimate intention for your life?” Now you probably are wondering, “What is God’s ultimate intention for my life?”

I am so glad that you asked. The answer is found in God’s word – Romans 8:29, “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first born among many brothers.” God’s ultimate intention for each of us who are Christ-followers, is that we be “conformed to the image of His Son.” What does that mean? How does it happen?
