“Injured for His Glory” This past year I have begun a friendship with a dear brother in Christ by the name of Brad Reiches. Recently, when he was in the area, we met and he gave me a copy of his book by the above title. It is really the story of his life, up to the present, and he shares lessons he has learned across the years. I identify with much that he shares, so I thought we all might profit from what he has written. Brad suffers from Parkinson’s disease. In the preface, he wrote, “God is way bigger than I ever imagined. Injured for His Glory? It took me thirty-six years to even begin to understand it. Thirty-six years of bitterness. Thirty-six years of frustration. Thirty-six years of discipline, pruning, refining and yes, wounding.

“Limiting God”
That doesn’t sound right, does it? God is almighty, all knowing, ever present and unchanging. He is infinite. How is it possible that we could limit or hinder what God wants to accomplish in us, for us and through us? I’m glad you asked.

I want to urge you to read Psalms 78 in its entirety. There you will read about all the ways God cared for His people Israel. In fact, the caption at the beginning of the chapter in my Bible reads, “GOD’S KINDNESS TO REBELLIOUS ISRAEL”.

“You and the Holy Spirit”

Someone once said, “The world has yet to see what could be accomplished through one Christian totally surrendered to the Holy Spirit.” Wouldn’t you like to be that person?

I know I would. I will be sharing many scriptures in this meditation. I hope you will look them up and read them.

“If You Love Me”

Do we really love Jesus? What is the criteria that shows we love Him? Jesus set the standard in John 14:15 ¾
“If you love Me, you will obey what I command.”

That is pretty clear isn’t it? One of the ways we show we love our LORD is doing what He asks us to do.

What does He want us to do? In Acts 1:8, it is very clear what He wants us to do.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

“Jesus — our Mediator”

The word ‘Mediator’ does not appear often in the scriptures, but the concept is everywhere and it is always associated with the grace of God. It is important that we realize God never allows us to take His grace for granted. Grace is miraculous and results in salvation for all who will believe in and receive Jesus Christ. Grace is victorious and it displays God’s wisdom, love and power.

No wonder Newton wrote the words, “Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me.” While grace is amazing, God faithfully warns us that though He is good and loving, He is at the same time, against those who persist in sin.

“God and Our Deepest Needs”

We are complex individuals. We are physical beings and emotional beings. We are relational and spiritual beings. It is not my intent to give an exhaustive list of the kinds of beings we are. However, I do want to say that we can be needy in each of the categories I have mentioned.

I don’t think that many of us realize the extent to which we have been damaged by sin. However, I am convinced that our heavenly Father loves us with a perfect love and He wants to restore us and bring healing to every area of our lives.
