“Jesus is the Answer”

Frequently we are asked, “Aren’t all the world’s religions the same? Don’t they all lead to the same place?” While each religion may have something to say that is meaningful, they are not all the same and they certainly don’t all lead to the same place.

Recently, following a funeral, a lady followed me out to my car and asked if I thought that Jesus was the only way to heaven I said, let me tell you what Jesus said in John 14:6 —“I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except by/through Me.” Then I also added —‘Let me tell you what Peter said in Acts 4:12,’ “Neither is there salvation, in any other, for there is no other name under heaven, given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

At that point she wanted to know, “What about all the good that some of the other religions do?” Again, I said ‘Let me tell you what the Apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians 2:8-10’, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, let anyone should boast.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

We are not saved by good works but for good works. Not all of the world’s religions are equal. The founder of all the world religions, with the exception of the Christian faith, have died and they remain so. Jesus Christ not only died, but He rose again and He is alive.

Christ has no competition among the religions of the world. Buddha presented himself as an example of how one human being can rise above suffering through self-enlightenment. He can’t save us. We can never be reconciled to God through him.

Muhammed saw himself as a conduit of God’s laws by which people should live their lives. There is no help from Islam if we fail in living up to God’s expectations. It is hard, based on the Quran, to see Islam as a loving religion. In fact, the Quran portrays us enemies that should be destroyed.

The Old Testament prophets were great and they frequently used the phrase, “Thus says the Lord,” but the focus was not on them but on God. By getting to know Christ and trusting in Him, we not only know that there is a God, but we also learn who He is and we are assured of God’s eternal love.

The Apostle Paul, in Romans 5:8 wrote, “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” None of the other religions of the world offer us a living Savior and eternal life.

C. S. Lewis declared, “I believe in Christianity as I believe the sun has risen. Not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else”

There is so much more that could be said, but let me close with 1 John 1:1-7, “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes which we have looked upon, and our hands have held, concerning the Word of life.

The life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life was with the Father and was manifested to us — that which we have seen and heard was declared to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. All these things we write to you that your joy may be full.

This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with Him and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not practice the truth. But, if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”

Listen to what the writer of Hebrews 9:27-28 wrote —
“And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him, He will appear a second time apart from sin, for salvation.”

WOW! Christ is the answer! I pray that you know Him as your Savior and LORD.

By God’s grace,

Pastor Leonard
