“The Fall of Man”

“So Great a Salvation”

Has anyone ever given you a special gift? When they gave it to you, did you pull out your wallet and offer to pay for it? I hope not. A gift is a gift. It is something that is freely given. To offer to pay for it would be an insult.

A gift must be accepted for what it is – something that is freely given and unmerited.

Folks, that is the way it is with our salvation. Listen to what Paul wrote in Ephesians 2:8-10, “God saved you by His grace when you believed. And, you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.

Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.”

In Romans 6:23, the Apostle wrote –
“For the wages of sin is death (what we deserve), but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our LORD.”

By now, all of us should be doing hand-springs and cartwheels and shouting glory- Hallelujahs non-stop.

But there is more, in Psalm 103:11-12 we read, “For His unfailing love toward those who reverence Him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has removed our sins as far as the east is from the west.” I love the way theologian Ron Rhodes puts it – “No one in heaven will ever be able to say, ‘Look at me! I made it! With a little help from God, I made it!’”

Folks, salvation is all about God. Not even the smallest part of it is the result of anything we do or don’t do.

Please consider the following about what we read in Psalm 103:11-12. The North and South poles point to specific locations. They really exist. But that is not so when we consider the east and west.

If you started traveling east, you will never arrive where east begins because it is just the opposite of west. The two will never meet and never could because they are opposites. That is how far God has removed our sins from us.

Now, hang on to your hats – to remove our sins, “as far as the east is from the west”, means that God has put them where no one can ever find them. In Jeremiah 31:34, God said,
“… And I will forgive their wickedness and I will never again remember their sins.”

Theologian` Bud Robinson, an evangelist who has been with the LORD for many years used to say that God has thrown our sins into the depths of His sea, to be remembered against us no more.” Then he said that on the shore, God put up a sign just for the devil, that said, “No fishing allowed!”

Let me close this meditation with a powerful passage from Revelation 12:10-12, “Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens. ‘It has come at last – salvation and power and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ.

For the accuser (the devil) of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down to earth – the one who accuses them before our God, day and night.

And they have defeated him by the blood of the lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die. Therefore, rejoice. O heavens! And you who live in the heavens, rejoice!

But terror will come on the earth and the sea, for the devil has come down to you in great anger, knowing he has little time.”

Satan does not want us to enjoy the peace God gives us. He will do everything he can to disrupt that peace. He is our accuser and he loves to bring up our past sins and failures.

When he does —
1. Remind him that every one of your sins is forgiven.
2. Remind him that they are under the shed blood of Jesus Christ and will never be remembered against us by God ever again.
3. Remind him that he is a liar, the father of lies and the truth is not in him.
4. Lastly — when he reminds you of your past, remind him of his future – the lake of fire forever!
Let us never stop praising God for the great salvation He freely offers to us when we welcome

His Son, Jesus Christ into our lives.

For His glory,

Pastor Leonard
