“The Fall of Man”

“A Blessed Christmas”

That is the prayer that Joyce and I have in our hearts for each of you …. that you have a Blessed Christmas.

This our first Christmas together as a church family — Ventura Jubilee Fellowship. I think just about everyone of us are convinced we have witnessed a miracle of God’s doing. From our coming out to our going in, the LORD has lead us every step of the way. We are so honored to be with you and be your shepherd and wife. WE LOVE YOU AND THANK GOD FOR YOU.

In this Christmas greeting, I can’t help but think of John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

“The Fall of Man -II”

Last week we saw that Satan got a grip on Eve through a reversal of roles. Today, we want to see how our cunning adversary got his hooks into Adam. Again, I want to remind us why Christmas is so important. It was Jesus Christ, God’s Son, coming into the world to right the wrong that took place in Eden.

His approach to Adam was to appeal to his emotions rather than his intellect. In fact, Satan didn’t tempt Adam at all – he let Eve do it.

“Living for Christ”

Sometimes I wish you could peek inside my heart and sense the anguish I feel for those who are just nominal in their approach to the Christian life. I am thinking of those who read their Bible now and then, attend church if it is convenient and pray only when they need God’s help. Then I think, “If my heart is so heavy, what about the heart of Jesus who died in our place on the cross?”

How is it possible to say that I am a Christian and yet not fellowship with His people, cherish His Word or talk to Him on a regular basis?

“Adrianisms”

Adrian Rogers, who is now with the LORD, was known for his wit and his wisdom. We served together, years ago, on the board of directors for the National Coalition Against Pornography.

He was an exceptional pastor and Bible teacher. It was such a privilege to get to know him. I thought it might be a blessing to you to share some of his “Adrianisms.”

  • “Try to define the Trinity and you’ll lose your mind. Deny it and you’ll lose your soul.”

“What Our Country Needs”

I think any sensible person would say that America needs many things, but most of all we need the blessings of God. How important is it that we have His favor? I think we find the answers we need in 2 Chronicles 7:12-16
1. We need God’s blessings in order to survive.

13a, “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain.”
2. We need God’s blessings in order to prosper.

13b, “On command locusts to devour the land.”
3. We need God’s favor to survive morally and physically.

My Heart Cries Out for The Baptist Church in Texas.

Once again, a community has been racked by the senseless killing of many innocent people. Please remember the families of those who have been killed in this atrocity.

Our hearts cry out for understanding. I suppose only God knows for sure what was in the shooter’s mind.

The prophet Jeremiah wrote, “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?” 17:9

Early in human history, we had our very first murder. Cain, angry with God, killed his brother Abel. Genesis 4:8

Confidence in our Lord

Psalm 16

Do you really trust the LORD?

Do you believe He has your best interest on His heart?

Psalm 16 is a meditation on the blessings of God on us who love Him. I love the last verse because it is a kind of summation of the entire Psalm – Verse 11,
“You, God, will show me the path of life;

In your presence is fullness of joy;

At your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
