“Praising God”

When I started school in the first grade, I had a teacher who early on decided she didn’t like me. Her name was Miss Pine. It may have been because we weren’t one of the up and coming families in the community.

Perhaps it was because our family went to church. No matter how hard I tried to please her, nothing worked. At the end of the year, on my report card, she wrote, “Passed but on probation.” That meant that when the next school year started, I would be in the second grade, but I had one month to prove I could do second grade work or else I would have to repeat the first grade.

You can be sure I did everything I could to prove myself and, at the end of that month was told I could go on with the second grade. The problem was, Miss Pine also taught the second grade. Yes, as before, she promoted me into the third grade and again, on probation.

“Unity — A Matter of the Heart”

Who has your heart? In Deuteronomy 6:4-5, we have Moses challenging his people — “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”

In Deuteronomy 10:12-13, “And now, O LORD, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and to observe the LORD’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good.”

“The Blessing of Unity”

Warmest greeting to our Jubilee family. There are many things about Jubilee that I am so grateful for. One of these being the sense of unity, peace and joy.

I also know that the devil would love to destroy these qualities. The Bible has so much to say about unity and how we can maintain it in our fellowship.

I was raised on the prairies of Alberta, in Western Canada. Our winters were very severe. I read of a farmer who looked out the window one winter morning and saw what, at the time, was a very peaceful scene.

“Really Getting to Know Your God”

I want to invite you to a spiritual feast. You will experience this feast as you take time to study the names of God.

Names are very important. They reveal character traits and ways in which we can experience our God in our lives.

In 2014, Dr. Elmer Towns published a book titled, “The Ultimate Guide to the Names of God.”
I would encourage you to get a copy and work your way through it. As you study the different names for God and what those names mean, I believe you will experience growth in your soul that will enrich your life and relationship with the Father in amazing ways.

“El Shaddai: Almighty God”

Sometimes I wonder if we know that our God, who is personal, is Almighty. He is all powerful, all-knowing, always present and unchanging.

El Shaddai is the One who is strong enough to help us with all of our problems and sensitive enough to care.

When Abraham was seventy-five years old, God appeared to him and called him to follow Him. In Genesis 12:1-3, we read, “The Lord said to Abram, ‘Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you.

“Discerning God’s Will”

Call me old-fashioned, but I believe that God has a plan and purpose for every life. I believe this because I see it in so many of the lives in Scripture and I have experienced this in my own life.

I was nine years old when I realized that God loved me and wanted a personal relationship with me. I was at a summer camp; and one evening in a church service, I understood I was a sinner and that Christ died for me on the cross. He wanted to forgive my sin and come into my life as Savior and Lord.

That plan is clearly seen in one of the most familiar verses of Scripture in the Bible – John 3:16.

“My Calling and My Passion”

In June, fifty-eight years ago, I began to fulfill God’s call on my life as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When I was quite young, the Holy Spirit etched the following words into my heart —

“You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe Me and understand that I am He. Before Me, no god was formed, nor will there be one after Me.

I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from Me there is no savior. I have revealed and saved and proclaimed -– I, and not some foreign god among you. You are My witnesses,” declares the LORD, “that I am God. Yes, from ancient days I am He. No one can deliver out of My hand. When I act, who can reverse it?” (Isaiah 43:10-13)
